Modern Cable Wine Systems Create Displays That Are a Piece of Art in Orange County

Modern cable wine systems can be designed to create wine displays that are a piece of art in their own right!

Hello, this is Steve from Cable Wine Display Systems. Today we are in Laguna Beach, Orange County, California.

We are here to show you this amazing modern all-glass home wine cellar styled using cable wine displays we recently completed.

Cable wine systems are one of the more modern high-tech wine display styles we design for homes where the goal is to create a very contemporary look.

Modern Cable Wine Displays Construction and Design

In this case, the build process was to first remove the finish around one of the pillars. The goal being to create the space to incorporate the mechanics of a fully cooled wine cellar. After we did that, we had a column and ceiling area with an open core to work with.

Next we ran the line set for the wine cellar cooling split system. Modern home wine cellar cooling split systems require a copper line set to be installed between the two parts. That enables us to put the coil in the wall and the condenser outside the house.

To do that we had to use a very special wine cellar cooling unit, manufactured by a specialist company called US Cellar Systems. The cooling unit remains hidden behind a mirror. The second part of the cooling system, the condensing unit, we were able to conveniently locate outside the house, next to the air home’s HVAC conditioner.

Next used spray foam to insulate the area This was applied all the way down the wall and into the ceiling. We used closed-cell foam insulation which acts as a vapor barrier all in one. This process enables a high R-value preventing any air gaps where mold can form. That completed the electrical systems, copper lines, and the foam insulation phase of the construction process.

We then added plywood with a special type of backer installed into the soffit intended to hold the cables. The cables are the core of cable wine systems. The wine cable racks carry a lot of weight, so it is very important to overcompensate with plywood that is strong enough to anchor the cables. This is also necessary to install at the bottom of the wine cellar display whilst also adding light panels for effect.

Cable Wine Displays Benefit from Light Panels

The light panels are what really makes this type of cable wine system look so special. In this case, it is a three-quarter-inch acrylic light panel with soft white lighting.  We can customize these light panels to any size for various wine cellar designs.

As you can see light panels used the right way makes a big difference to cable wine displays. They can be installed as backlighting, on a shelf to highlight special wines or things like scotch or brandy. What we installed here, is top and bottom highlighting. This means the lighting is also supporting cable systems.  Wine cellar designs benefit from well-thought-out lighting.

If you like the idea of these acrylic light panels, call us at Cable Wine Display Systems or reach out on our website.  You can order any variation of light panels, any size, shape as well as the special three-quarter inch thick versions to hold pegs or the cables.

This wine cellar display will hold a maximum of 86 bottles. Really though, this cable wine cellar’s main purpose is to be a showpiece. A display feature in the home, as well as a practical way to store quality wines.

This wine cellar’s primary purpose is not bulk storage of wine. More, it is a piece of art.

Another feature of the cable wine display that makes stand out is the use of high-quality mirrors. The mirrors add depth, making the cellar look a lot bigger than it actually is. When you stand in front of it, it looks like it keeps going all the way down through the room. The frameless glass enclosure adds to the effect. The glass is a half-inch thick with a “U” channel and a polished stainless-steel handle. The “U” channel helps to ensure a perfect seal to keep the cooled air in the enclosure.

Smaller Wine Cellars can be More Challenging than Larger Cellars

This wine cellar is a smaller wine cellar than we typically build, even so, it was just as challenging to design as a larger wine cellar.

Where to put the cooling system, selecting a specific cooling unit that could be installed in the limited space available. Adding the mirror, adding the condensing unit all the way across into the outside. All these things need to be carefully considered when designing a high-tech cable wine system display. The cooling system also is a very unique application that is only made possible by the product manufactured by one company, US Cellar Systems.

Just building the ceiling support and base to be sturdy enough, to be able to hold all these cables, required significant engineering.

Designing a cable wine system for a display feature custom wine cellar that is functional, practical as well as aesthetically pleasing can be a challenge.

Modern Homes Warrant Modern Wine Cellars

We hope you like this cable wine display system and appreciate the technical challenges in its construction.

Modern cable wine displays add art to a home as well as a functional way to store wines.
